Daddy Daughter Dance 2018

Last Friday was the Daddy Daughter Dance and The Paper Pickle was there.  This is a big fundraiser for The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.  The Safety Village is a non-profit who's purpose is to keep children safe through education and awareness.  My children have attended sessions at The Safety Village through their school and I am grateful.  We are very lucky to have them in our community.  And I wanted to give back.

This year, I prepped kits for 150 girls!  All supplies and my time are donated for this event.  The cards are kept very simple as there are girls ranging in age from 2-16.  I thought this line from Doodlebug was very appropriate.

Now there are two reasons why I initially volunteered to be a part of this event.  First of all, I wanted to see why my daughter and husband look forward to this event each year.  They have been attending since it's inception (at least 4-5 years now) and would never dream of missing it!  I mean it must be pretty special.  Oh and is it ever!  The girls and dads are dressed up.  There is dancing (Shawn from PartyTime DJ is always there spinning the tunes), there is a photo booth by Captured Moments and two strips of photos are given to each - one for dad and one for daughter.  What a beautiful keepsake!  There is a sundae bar. There is pizza. There are flowers.  There are balloons.  It.  Is.  Adorable.

....best of all, you give me love.

And the best part....and the reason why I offered to do this for a second year.......There is lots and LOTS of LOVE.....  Oh my goodness.  These next few photos are the reason why I run around like a wild woman sweating and helping and gluing and praising and laughing and smiling and.....

Love the curly font, Summer!

Bold and beautiful.

Best use of coloured pens and stamps.

Best in black and white.  Way to go Peyton!

Oh Bry....your love is apparent.
So yeah.  This is why I do it.  My heart was FULL after this event.  Thank you for the re-charge Barb and team at The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.  See you next year!

Daddy Daughter Dance Sneak Peek

Happy Father's Day

I am thrilled to be apart of THE most adorable event of the year - The Daddy Daughter Dance taking place this Friday at The Bradley Centre.  This is a huge fundraiser for The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village (a charity that does such amazing work in our community).  Have a look at the cards the girls will be making for their dads.  We are working with the So Punny line from Doodlebug.  Tickets are nearly sold out but you may time to snag a couple!  Click here for the ticket link.

PS....for those of you who love Doodlebug and their whimsical designs, you will be happy to know that the Sweet Summer collection is now in stock!

Pen to paper.....this is love.
We were also apart of the "Mother Son Date Knight" back in May which was also a fundraiser for The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.  The boys created an emoji spinner card for their mom (remember that one from our make and take back a few months ago?) and they loved it.

Honestly, I am happy to donate my time and supplies especially when I get to be rewarded with this.  Have a look at the picture above.  This boy who must have been around 9 or 10 must have spend about 30+ minutes putting his card together and then taking the time to write a very special note to his mom.  He truly was putting his whole heart into that card.  I watched him give his card to this mom and he was SO proud.  My heart is full after leaving these events.....this is why I do what I do.  It is amazing what a little ol' fashioned pen to paper can do for the soul.  I am looking forward to this Friday and all the smiles and love I am so lucky to witness.

Card Classes!

I love paper.  It is a fact.  I know this is not breaking news.  But honestly, every time I look at what can be created with basic supplies....paper, ink, stencils.....I fall more and more in love.  I am in awe.  Get ready to fall in love yourself....

We are back with a couple of card classes this month that will bring out your inner artist.  We have plans for various classes throughout the summer too. Stay tuned.  And don't be afraid to send me a note with suggestions for classes.  I am always open to ideas.  Also, if there are any paper artists out there who may want to teach at The Pickle, please send me an email.  I would love to see what you have to offer.

Cards by Debbie
These cards are incredible.  Just look at the art Debbie has created using stencils, distress ink, distress oxide inks, stamps and dies.  I am blown away.  They are even more beautiful in person.  Stop in and have a look.

Cards by Hilary
This is going to be an awesome class.  Hilary will show you how just by changing papers, you can create two very different cards.  It's like the internet debate all over again.....Which do you see?  Pink with white laces or blue with grey laces?  I can see both.  I love both.  And as a bonus, create this incredible distressed tag using various stamps, inks, stencils and more.  It's shabby.  It's chic.  It.  Is.  Fun.

Date:  Wednesday, June 20 from 6-8pm OR Thursday, June 21 from 1-3pm
Cost:  $20+hst (includes a sweet treat from Homebaked Kitchen Co.)
Required Supplies:  adhesive
