Yes, I have done it again!  More new product.  Here is a look at my counter yesterday afternoon.  Wow, I cannot believe the camera caught the lovely paper haze I was experiencing!  Whoa, dude.....paper.

So there is a nice selection of 6x6 pads, collections, individual papers and embellishments from Crate Paper (LOVE!), Studio Calico (brand spankin' new to The Pickle), Dear Lizzy's Neapolitan (a cute new line from American Craft!) and Amy Tangerine (so fun and eclectic).  As I have often said, some stories are best told in photos....

Crate Paper
I often gush over this company and you will see why.  Introducing......

 Pretty Party (now in store!)
I love the soft girlie colours in this line paired with the wood.

Fun stickers to pair with the papers.....too easy!

And here is Story Teller....

SO excited for these BINGO chips!

So fun!  I love the vintage embellishments.

Studio Calico
I fell in love with this company the moment my American Crafts rep showed me their product offering.  Very simplistic but OH the possibilities!

Fun wood veneers in 4 styles - birdies, cameras, hearts & arrows and stars

FabRips - You must see for yourself.  Available in 5 patterns.

Fun NEW masks for Mixed Media projects!

Dear Lizzy's Neapolitan

Is this not THE cutest paper?

Fun rub-ons and stickers are in!

Check out the buttons in the middle....epoxy paired with wood = love!!

Big Yard Sale Tomorrow!

Just wanted to send a quick post out about a yard sale/fundraiser that is happening tomorrow at the Old School House on Bloomfield Road in Chatham (just passed the 6th Concession).  Nicole Leger was talking to me about the event while in the store this past week and I thought I should pass on the details for this very important fundraising effort!  All money raised will go towards buying a Smartboard for The Autism Transitional Classroom!

The Details
The Autism Transitional Classroom is a specialized treatment classroom operated by the St. Clair Catholic District School Board in partnership with Chatham Kent Children’s Services. Our classroom provides a specialized, short-term placement for students with very severe developmental disabilities – Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.

On Saturday, April 21st, from 7am - ???, they are having a yard sale, bake sale, BBQ, and raffle to raise funds towards the purchase of a Smartboard for our classroom. The use of this technology will make a difference in the lives of our students by allowing them to participate more fully in learning activities. The Smartboard grasps all students’ attention and makes whole class instruction easier and more meaningful for the students.

Remember, every little thing we do for others helps more than you realize!!

Whoa! What a rush!!

Wow!  Scrapfest.  Kitchener 2012.  What a whirlwind of an adventure!  I know it is Thursday, and the show was LAST Friday and Saturday, but I only JUST feel like I am getting caught up!

For those of you who have never been, I think you should mark April 12 and 13th, 2013 on your calendar right now!!  Seriously, go do it!  Scrapfest is Ontario's premier paper crafting event.  There is a huge shopping area as well as a crop area and special classes.  Many of the vendors also do make and takes throughout the weekend.  In my opinion, Lisa Sales Furtney and her team pull together one of the best and amazingly well run shows I have ever attended!

So have you ever wondered how we pull shows like this together.  Have a look at the process...

The Preparation
Each year I spend hours days weeks thinking and thinking about our theme.  What products will be featured?  How will I decorate our booth?  Who will help me?  What samples will we create?  Have a look at one of the members of my team.....Jules!  She is just one of the girls who helped prepare amazing samples for the booth.  Here she is one morning "smashing" with her mom on the Sunday before the show!  I just love what she did with these pages!  You can see my eco-smashbook on the table as well.  I decided to add ribbon, a spellbinder blossom die and some distressing to the front of my album.  Jules told me I did a nice job so that is all that matters...ahhhh!
Here is a look at another Smashbook I created for the event!  I ripped apart all of my Real.Simple. magazines.  I saved all the most amazing decorating and product ideas and created a book I just love!  No more flipping through those piles of old magazines for that cool-idea-I-know-its-somewhere-just hold-on-was-it-December 2010-no-maybe-11.  Now a dozen old magazines are out of my house (yay me!) and patiently waiting to be recycled.  And just wait for the best part.... all I have to do is pull out my Retro Smashbook for that "cool must-have planter idea".  Fun.  Efficient.  Smashing!
The Product Offering
From the above comments, you may have an inkling of what we featured.  Yes, Smashbooks were a big part of our booth.  I absolutely love how quick and easy scrapbooking can be with this product!  It is SOOO me!  Hey have I done this sales pitch already on this blog!  Ha!  Have a look at some of the product we brought in specifically for the show!  Yikes!  All I kept thinking is "Will it sell?!?  Is there room in the two vans for everything?  Yikes....no, double yikes!"

More Products
Here is a look at a fun embellishment I created with the Spellbinder Blossom dies (another featured product).  Again I love how quick and easy these dies can make designing and having fun!  These dies were featured during my demos and make and takes!  I used cork sheets (sold in store) for this flower and wrapped it around a gorgeous Prima wooden button.  A little bakers twine complete my embellishment nicely.

The Booth In Action
Have I told you how much I love Scrapfest?!?  The rush and stress of it all.  The fun ladies from all over Ontario that we see each year.  The amazing energy and love of the hobby felt over the two day event....ahhh.  There is nothing else like it!  Here is a look at our booth from the front left corner.  You can see me leading the make and take.  You can see the very popular Smash products.  You can see the ladies at the back rooting through our always consistent and loved ribbon jars.  You can see the style of our booth....very Pickle!  Burlap EVERYWHERE! Antiques a constant.  The theme....Quick & Dirty.
Now here is a look at our booth from the front right corner.  There is Kell....hi!

The Secret Ingredients
In my opinion, I could plan and plan and plan but without out the help of my family/friends (I know I am blessed that they are both!) the show would not have been a success!  We each had our role and we did it well!  Kell helped me with the ordering and running the cashout area efficiently and smoothly.  Krystle pulled together THE most amazing Smashbook and helped promote the product.  And Jen was such an asset the week of the event preparing and packing and kitting.  She also, brought in some Bailey's cupcakes on Saturday at THE most perfect time of the day!  Seriously....I am so LUCKY to have these girls on my side!

Our Next Event
So what's next?  Well, it is funny you ask!  We have a little event in the works for next Thursday (April 26th) at the store!  Hey, why not keep the fun going?!?

It will be a little pre-Mother's Day shopping and crafting event running from 10am until 8pm.  All I have to say is that it will pull together all of these fun things that we (the girls above) do and then some!  More details tomorrow....

Scrapfest - Kitchener April 13&14

Well Happy Easter! I hope you had a nice relaxing long weekend. Ours was filled with tons of chocolate and lots of family time!

A Few Plugs and a Family Update
I have to admit that Friday was the highlight of my weekend. Trev and I took the kids for a little ride to get out and enjoy the day. We made a quick stop at Dekoko's for snacks and caffeine. Have I mentioned lately how I adore her lattes? I savour each and every sip and even get a little disappointed when I get down to the last drop....if you ever catch me taking off the lid to get a last lick, please remind me to do this in the privacy of my own home ONLY!  Ha!

Then we drove out to #3 HWY to this amazing fresh fish store called "Fresh from the Net".  It is located at 8905 Talbot Trail at the corner of Erieau Road and Talbot Trail.  The fish is seriously so fresh and amazing....well worth the drive!   We picked up 2 lbs of the most incredible perch which I later cooked up along with some fresh cut fries....pure heaven!

We stopped at Sweden Freeze in Charing Cross for a little lunch (which was a first for us....and what a pleasant surprise) and then it was back home to play outside. Julia was determined that today would be the day she would learn to ride her bike without training wheels. We tried before church and I have to admit the pot holes in the drive were making it just a little challenging. Then after church we headed to the parking lot across the road and she picked it up just like that! Was she ever proud of herself! Just that look on her face made the day one of my favorites...like ever!

Scrapfest - Kitchener
So we are off to Kitchener this Friday and Saturday and I couldn't be more excited! I have my favorite girls helping me too.... Yay sisters! So since we are all going, the store will be closed. Here are the hours this week:
Tuesday 10-5:30
Wednesday 10-5:30
Thursday 10-5:30
Friday CLOSED
Saturday CLOSED

Sorry for the inconvenience. We will resume regular store hours the following week.  Hey, if you miss us that badly, why not take a drive to Kitchener? Honestly it is so fun! I have a great make & take planned and some fun promotions!
