Oh What a Wonderful Day - Giveaway!!!

You ever have one of those days and you can help but think "Life is GOOD!"?  Well I'm having one of those days.  I was out walking on King Street and everyone was so cheery, the sun was shining.....honestly how could I not be smiling?!?  When I got back to the store, my favourite song  "Teenage Dream" was on the radio and here I was, rockin' it out drinking my yummy Pumpkin Latte and just enjoying the moment!  Ahhhhh....can it get any better?

SOOOOOOO what I was thinking (and I know you are going to like this), today is the day that I am going to do a little giveaway to spread the cheer.....did you just secret say "yesssss"?  I have had a couple of you out there mention that this could be fun and I completely agree!  A few weeks ago, I won a facebook giveaway by my favourite Canadian body product company called Barefood Venus.  They are based in Western Canada and their products are just SOOO amazing!  All I had to do is answer one little question and I won!  So that is what I am going to do here.

How Can You Win?!?
All you have to do is tell me (via blog post) One way we can make The Paper Pickle better.  Answers could include products we are lacking and should order in.....services that you are looking for from your local paper craft store, etc.  Please think about this and be honest.  As you know, we are always trying to make The Pickle better and make sure it is a store you love as much as we do!  I will keep the contest open until next Thursday, September 30.  One person will be randomly chosen from the various answers and the winner will be announced on October 1st.

What will you win?!?
You will win a brand NEW collection pack from Basic Grey (valued at $25.99).  Did I mention that we got in 5 new collections from Basic Grey just last week?  Collections include:
 - Pyrus
 - Jovial
 - Oliver
 - Olivia
 - Wander

For those of you that prefer the 6x6 pads, we got those in too!

Scrapbook & Cards Magazine is in the House!

Looking for the latest copy of the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine?  We've got it in!  Receive this magazine absolutely free with $20 purchase!  Limit one per order as we have very limited quantities and would like to spread the cheer as much as possible!!

Fall CLASSES @ The Pickle!

Hello Everyone!

I am SO excited to introduce our first set of classes for the fall.  We took a little break through the summer (with our card classes anyways!) and now we are back and ready to teach you lots of new and exciting techniques.  Speaking of technique, these projects and classes are full of it!  OK....now I must note that these pictures I take of the cards DO NOT do them justice.  They look are all amazing in person and I know sometimes they come across a little dark.  The one thing you should do is stop by the store to have a look at them in person or trust me when I say you NEED to take these classes!

Here we go....

Elegant Christmas by Debbie

I know what you may be thinking, Christmas already!?!?  We honestly see people making Christmas cards through the entire year (even on those 30+ degree days we had this summer!)  PLUS, these are the most important cards you will send out to your friends to "show off" a little so it's great to try out a few before you land on the perfect 'one'.  These designs and techniques Debbie has incorporated into her cards are so versatile that they could be used for any occasion.  NOTE:  We will be putting out different Cuttlebug folders and stamps so you can turn these into different themed cards if you choose.

This card class is all about RIBBON!  You will be making shabby ribbon flowers and learning a cool ripple technique.  You will also be distressing, adding glitter, using Cuttlebug folders and edge punches and much more.  Debbie has worked very hard on these cards and I just know she won't mind if you borrow her ideas for your cards this year!

Date: Tuesday, September 21
Time: 6PM
Cost: $17
Required Supplies: scissors, adhesive, long needle
Suggested Supplies: crop-a-dile

Country Charm by Pauline

I am always amazed at the cards Pauline designs.  Pauline will be working with the Prisma Pencils and helping you perfect your technique.  You will also learn how to use your edge punches to make a VERY cool frame (as seen on the 'it's your day card').....I mean have a look...how did she do that?  Take the class and you can amaze all of your friends!

Date:  Wednesday, September 29
Time:  6PM
Cost:  $17
Required Supplies:  Scissors, adhesive, pencil, Prisma Coloured Pencils (Limepeel, Applegreen, Grass Green, Kelp Green, Moss Green, Peacock Green, Artichoke, French Grey 20% & 50%, Beige, Light Umber, Chocolate, Dark Umber, Terra Cotta, Tuscan Red, Scarlet Lake, Carmine Red)

'Oh So Tweet' Scrapbook Page by Michelle
What a fun layout.  I really like the layout of this design. You will work with the Tim Holtz dies, various punches, the core'dinations paper, transparencies, thickers, distress inks and more!  A great layout class for students of all levels and for any subject!

Date:  Tuesday, September 28th
Time:  6PM
Cost:  $17
Required Supplies:  scissors, adhesive, 4 wallet size photos
Suggested Supplies:  Brown Distress Inks

NEW Product....and I mean LOTS of it!

Looooove....exciting and new!  Yes, I will admit that I am in love.  This is my absolute most favourite time of the year.  I love everything from the cooler nights, the chance to decorate for fall (I am a total nerd this year.....I already have my cornstalks, icicle pansies and pumpkins out!), to the myriads of new product that are arriving from my CHA orders.  OK....are you ready to hear about all the new goodies?!  I think you may like it....

Crate Paper
Let me start with my favourite.  I know I told you about how excited I was about the Crate paper this year.  Well, it is even MORE gorgeous in 'real life'!  I have brought the full line of paper from the Restoration collection and the majority of the School Spirit!  I have 6x6 pads of each and 12x12 papers. Now I have to comment on the 6x6 pads.  Usually companies, like Basic Grey, take their 12x12 papers and shrink the patterns down so they are only half the size (or is it a 1/4?).  No matter....What Crate has done is taken the 12x12 paper and just cut them into 4 pieces and included it all in a handy pack.  This is an interesting way to try all of the paper without commiting to the Collection Packs.  But trust me, you seriously NEED this paper....the weight, the texture, the colours......you know you have a serious addiction when you spend 20 minutes laying the paper out on your kitchen table to stare at it.  A problem I tell ya!

Tsukineko
We are completely restocked with ink from our favourite company, lovingly referred to as 'Suki'.  Have you seen their new Metallic Staz On colours?  There are four gorgeous colours all waiting to BLING up your handmade drink coasters this Christmas!  Hmmm....that has me thinking....stay tuned.

A Muse
Well, you asked for them and we got them!  What a great little rubber stamp company and to think I almost got rid of them for good!  (The nerve.)  What I really like about A Muse is the size of their stamps.  They have gorgeous little verses perfect for card fronts.  And the fonts they choose to mix and match are always spot on in my opinion.....nothing too cutesy but just right.  This statement coming from a girl who has 89 fonts alone that start with an 'A'!

You will have to check out their Halloween stamps....great for treat bags!  Here is a cute card from one of the A Muse girls using some of the stamps we got in.

Update on other Product Arrivals

Basic Grey
I just spoke with Basic Grey and they told me my package (all 4 boxes!) was shipped Friday and will arrive next Tuesday.  I receive my orders around lunch so for those of you who like to see what 'Christmas' is like at the Pickle, stop in!!

Other Paper Companies
As mentioned in a previous post, we have placed orders with many other paper companies including Pink Paislee, etc.  Those orders should be arriving shortly as well.

New Spellbinders
Again, I am in love!  Have you seen the new labels?  What?!?  They are gorgeous and they are on their way.  I hope/should see those next week!

Class Update
We will be posting our new class schedule next week.  Classes will resume the week of September 21!

'Til next time.  Kim
