Some lines are beyond incredible.  When I saw Crate Paper's Little You collection at CHA, I knew it was a must have.  I resisted ordering for a while and then when I was ready to order, it was nearly impossible to get in.  Well FINALLY it is all here now.  Paper, stickers, embellishments....I HAD to order it all.  Those sweet animals?  The gorgeous colours?  Have a look for yourself....

Harvest Time

Looking for a quick project for your Thanksgiving table?  Grab a sheet of Authentique's Harvest designer 12x12 paper...chop it up....mount onto card stock and write a special message of gratitude to each guest at your table. These little 3x4" cards will make you look like the "hostess with the most-est". I adore the vintage feel and so will your guests.

Loose 12x12 sheets of this entire collection plus 6x6 pads are now in stock at The Pickle.

Just wait until you see what Laura has planned for her next scrapbooking class. She will be designing with this incredible line!  Class to be posted very soon.

NEW. NEW. NEW.

I love paper.  It is a fact.  You may have heard this story before but humour me.  My very first job was hoeing bean fields with my two siblings.  I was 12.  We wanted to make money and my dad thought this would be the best job given our age.  We walked the bean fields from end to end chopping out various weeks including milk weeds, velvet leaf and corn that grew from last year's crop.  We were young and ambitious.  We walked the many acres laughing and dreaming about what we were going to buy with our money.  We were paid $3/acre.  This was to be split 3 ways so yeah, $1/acre.  To us, this was plenty.

At the end of the summer, we got our pay cheque.  I can't tell you exactly how much it was but I can tell you EXACTLY what I bought with that hard earned money.  I  bought stickers.  Mom drove us to Toys R Us in London and we were in heaven.  Forget the toys.  They had the most incredible sticker collection.  I remember buying puffy smelly sticker.....puffy AND smelly?  Those did not exist in Chatham!  Kell was my side kick on that trip and she was right in there laughing and getting excited with every find.  (To this day, she is still my favourite side kick.)

This week, this same nostalgic feeling washed over me as I opened the MANY boxes from my various suppliers.  (And they ALL arrived at the same time!)  It was the perfect storm.

I couldn't wait to reach in to see how incredible the Crate Paper products really were in person.

I couldn't wait to see Penny Black's over the top card board and her incredible stamps and dies.

I couldn't wait to see Memory Box and Poppy's latest release (which was released on their blog less than two weeks ago!).

And want to know the wild part?  I could go on and on.  It's all beautiful.  It all makes me happy.  It all makes me feel like a kid again.  And I love it.  You feel me?  I know you get it too.

If you were thinking of visiting, this is the time.  FYI, there is a great Made in Canada Etsy event happening on Saturday from 10-4 just a block from here.  Definitely time for a road trip.

Bio & Note from Laura
Hi everyone! I am really excited to begin teaching at the Paper Pickle! I am looking forward to getting to know you and hope to see you soon!

I thought you may like to know a little bit about me....I am Laura. I am a stay at home mom to 2 fantastic and fun loving young men – Cody is 15 and Ty is 14.
I am happily married for 16 years to my best friend and awesome husband, Jon. He is hardworking, ambitious, determined and loving...I am creative, enthusiastic, emotional and passionate – together we make a great team! We own our own transport truck and he is a long haul driver so during the week, It is me and our boys and my scrappy stuff!!! I started scrapping years ago when my sister took me to a Creative Memories beginner class and I although I really enjoyed it, I just wasn't a Creative Memories scrapper and soon struck out on my own. I found a few very helpful and friendly sites on the web and have been trying new things and learning ever since. I really enjoy trying new things and creating projects! I create mostly 12x12 layouts but I do really enjoy creating off the page projects, cards and canvases...anything were I can ink and paint and play and get my hands messy!
With my husband on the road, and two boys to keep me busy, I don't have a lot of time to myself to scrap so I make time! Every night after the kids go to bed I take out my supplies and try and do something scrapbooking oriented every day to give me some 'me' time. My family is the focus of my life, my inspiration, and my motivation to scrapbook.
I have had the honor to be published many times in Creative Scrapbooker as well as many on line e-zines. I have also had the opportunity to work on a couple of manufacturers design teams as well as a couple of guest spots most recently for Petaloo and ScrapFX and a few kit clubs!!!

If you would like to check out my creations please stop by my blog and have a look around! http://angelbearscraps.blogspot.ca/ or check out my instagram https://www.instagram.com/lauragilhuly/?hl=en

See you soon!

Downtown in the City EXTRAVAGANZA

So Kim has been no where to be found on her blog these days so it can only mean that BIG things are in the works.  Truly.  This Friday, downtown Chatham will be the (like seriously) THE place to be.  Downtown in the City Extravaganza is happening in the downtown core from 5-9pm.  This is an event for shoppers.  This is an event for those who want to be a part of the action.  This is an event for YOU!  So many times you hit these various festivals and I find the events are geared to families and fair style atmosphere.  Don't get me wrong, I love this.  But sometimes I want to stop in the cute little shops and check out the merch....but either kids are getting rangy or I don't want to hubby to blow a fuse "because all I ever want to do is shop".  Well you know what honey?  This girl is getting her game face on for Friday....you can stay home!

And by game face I mean providing you with an amazing shopping experience (if only there were two of me....one to shop and one to run the store!).  Actually, I live for these events so I am good!

Between 5-9pm on Friday, September 9th will have:

  • FREE make and take (from 5-8pm)
  • FREE loot bags for the first 50 people who complete the make and take or make purchases that night - valued at $20 (until we run out)
  • Special in store treats (from 5-9pm)
  • AND the ENTIRE store is TAX FREE! (from 5-9pm)

Don't forget to pick up your passport (available in store).  Have the various participating merchants initial the card and submit it for a chance to win a $100 gift card.

The event is a black and white theme so you are encouraged to dress in these colours (but hey you can wear whatever you like!).  There will be pop up fashion shows etc.  Here's an article from the local paper so you can see for yourself how big this event is going to be (click here).

The store is stocked right now with the latest product so it is the perfect time to stop in!

I just checked the forecast and the weather is going to be mild with a high of 28C and a low of 19C.  That means conditions are ideal to hit the streets with a light sweater, some cute sandals and the girls.  I hope to see you Friday!!  I am SO pumped.
