Let's fall in love with our Distress Inks again! These truly are the best inks for creating this beautiful and fun background! With a Stencil, dauber (or Mini Ink Blending Tool), lots of fun ink colours and a little water, you can play and feel like a kid again while designing cards that with wow your friends.

Hello Card
More stencil fun! But lets use some of our other inks that we all have and love, for example dye and pigment, for another great background. Emboss a sentiment and embellish! Oh what we can achieve with a little paper, ink, stamps, and good friends to play with!

Acrylic Paint FUN with Kim

You guys are going to love how fun and easy it is to create really cool backgrounds using Tim's distress daubers.  Both kraft cards are brought to life using these acrylic paints...best part?  No messy brushes to clean up!!  We are also working with fun stamps, dies, glitter, coloured pencils, embossing powder, washi tapes and more!  Have a closer look at these cards.  Trust me....they are even nicer in person.  Lots of great technique perfect for all levels of stampers.

Love this Magenta stamp.
SO beautiful for as a birthday or Mother's Day card

Tim Holtz blueprint stamps rock!

This Kaisercraft paper inspired me!  Great projects for any occasion.
Sometimes it is all about celebrating the small victories in life.  Come to my class and in two hours, you will be reminded of simple ways to dress your cards and you will have 5 cards and two tags to add to your stash!  We will work with various dies, stamping, embossing, washi tape and more.

Time:  5:45-7:45pm
Cost:  $20+hst (includes a Homebaked Kitchen cupcake!)
Required Supplies:  scissors and adhesive

Flip Album with Kim

I am really looking forward to finally teaching this class.  We tried to run it on a Friday leading up to Christmas and I think the timing was not ideal.  We are going to do things a little differently this time too.  This is going to be a free style class.  You will get to come into the store and choose 6 of your favourite 12x12 sheets of designer paper to match your photos and theme.  If you can do this during store hours a week before the class that would be great.  That way I can have lots of great embellishments to add to your project.
Fun flip album!
Oh.  Did I mention this is a class using Teresa Collin's 6x6 flip album?  You pull the little tab on the right hand side and the pages "flip" for you!  It is adorable and will make a great gift!
Date:  Thursday, March 26
Time:  5:45-8PM
Cost:  $25+hst (includes a Homebaked Kitchen cupcake!)
Required Supplies:  Please bring your paper trimmer, scissors and adhesive and 9 photos
Note:  When you come in to pick your papers, please mention your "theme" (ie. vacation, baby, family, etc) so I can pull suitable embellishments, etc.

Grab a friend and come to one of these great classes!  We would love to see you!!

Never say Never...Spellbinders - In'spire!

Great card stock envelope for storage
There is a popular saying....never say never.  I once said that I was never going to carry Spellbinders in the store because Michael's carries Spellbinders.  The problem is that they only stock the older dies (which we all have) and not many of the newer designs.  I could not resist these gorgeous dies and HAD to have them.  There is a whole line called Inspire which are image dies versus shapes only.  The packaging is beautiful (see above), the quality is great and the price is right ($12.99 each).

Be sure to open the envelope to see the true size of the die(s) and to see how many dies you get.  For example the cowboy boots below are actually TWO dies and not joined like the image shows below.

Have a look at a few of the others we just got in:

Funny side note:  I'm typing this post with my 6 year old son on my lap.
He knew the name of  all the other images above
but is struggling to find the name of this item above!
I better teach this boy!

Have a look at a card Becca Feeken designed using the typewriter die above.  Is she not INCREDIBLE?!?

Class Update

So back in 2009, Kell and I spent the better half of one CHA day stalking Paris Hilton.  She was there releasing a new scrapbooking line (full story here).  While we were there, one of her entourage passed me one of these cards and I hate to do it, but guys I'm going to have to use it today....

Debbie and I have been busy trying to create beautiful, original projects for classes but sometimes the creative process can be slow.  I know I promised that I would post classes no later than Saturday but the projects are not quite there and I will be asking for an extension.  I do promise that they will be posted NO LATER than Wednesday, March 11.  If on that day, classes are not posted, I will not pass go.  I will not collect $200 and I will advance to jail and let me tell you that after watching 20/20's special episode on prisons last week, I can tell you that this girl would never last one day there.  So I will stay true to my word.

Keep keeping on...

Prima - Watercolor Pencil Love

I mentioned last week that we have been receiving CHA goodness weekly!  When I heard Prima was releasing watercolour pencils, they caught my attention.  With Prima you know the quality will be top notch.  They are also known for their beautiful packaging (and like any girl, I am drawn to pretty packages!).  I must say, this new offering did not disappoint!  They are beautiful from the metal case to the simple purple foil logo on the pencils themselves (why does that make me happy?)

We have not carried watercolour pencils in the store for some time and given how hot the watercolour designs are these days, it was time for something new.  I am excited to work with them!

There are 6 sets priced at $16.95.  They come beautiful metal tin with 12 pencils in various themes including:

  • Scenic Route
  • Soft Neutrals
  • The Basics
  • Spring & Fall
  • Earth Tones
  • Julie Nutting Hair & Skin Tones
Check out Prima's blog for some of the amazing designs using their pencils.  Their artwork is incredible.

Have a look at this video (there are TONS of others on YouTube if you are interested!). Please note I did not bring in their water pen as we carry the Koi fine art water pens which are amazing (and essentially the same product).  We have carried Tim Holtz' water pens in the past and I know many of you have these already.  And hey, if you prefer an old fashion brush with a water cup....go for it!  This works just the same...you just have to do a little more dipping.

Classes
Just wanted to give you a heads up that classes are in the works and will be posted no later than Saturday!

Hope you are having a good week!
