Wedding Show Highlights

Last Saturday, I exhibited at the Chatham-Kent Wedding Show.  This year my theme was an old fashioned sewing shop complete with my antique Singer, mannequins, ribbon, antique thread spools and more.  The show is where I like to showcase invitation samples I have designed along with product I sell from Weddingstar and the like,  What do you think?  Are you sensing my vibe?  Feminine.  Vintage.  Creative.  VERY Paper Pickle if I do say so myself.

Let's have a closer look....

"We believe each and every detail matters."
Beauty can be found everywhere from these antique vanity mirrors that now house my signage to the adorable antique spools.  Why not decorate with items you have around your house?

Check out the gorgeous fall sample I design for a wedding last year.  What a sweetheart of a bride she was!
"We believe your wedding should be a reflection of you."
I thought this sign was so appropriate for these JD inspired programs I created for another amazing bride.
"Let us take care of the finishing touches"
We design everything from formal invitations to programs (look how cute these fan programs are...and practical for a hot outdoor summer wedding).  Photo thank you cards are also a nice touch.  This couple above was beautiful inside and out.  I really do attract THE nicest people.

Here is a look at a few more samples that I hung up on my vintage hanger.  Invites, programs, table numbers....needing anything paper related?  We've got you covered!  We also do large format seating charts.

And more samples showcased on my canvas screen.

Weddingstar Love
Weddingstar is a Canadian company that we have been carrying for years.  Their product offering is incredible from traditional guest books to stylish favours for your guests.

We love what we do ♥
If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life....or so the saying goes.  Then I guess you can say that I have not been working for the past 14 years.  Wow, was a ride it has been.  Let's keep it going shall we?  If you or anyone you know is planning a wedding or special event, please have them email me.  I would love to create something beautiful for their special day.

Wedding Show - Sweet Success

We are True to Ourselves...
Well that was quite the week!  Jen and I were busy prepping for the Chatham-Kent Wedding Show which took place on Saturday at The Bradley Centre.  Thank YOU to the girls who stopped by the booth to share your "Bride Style"!  It's so funny but three years ago I joked and said if you are looking for The Paper Pickle booth, look for the one with wood and burlap, NOT satin and rhinestones.  When you looked around the Bradley in 2015, you saw lots and lots of burlap, antiques and that gorgeous rustic look.  This is by far the hottest wedding trend out there these days.  Hey.  What can I say?  We KNOW what we like.  We keep with OUR style and NEVER imitate.  We're just cool like that....♥

We Listen...
And that's not to say that "rustic" is the ONLY thing we do!  We have always been about listening to our customers and designing something that suits THEIR style and THEIR vision.  We are creative by nature and can execute your ideas timely and professionally.

We DO Sweat the Small Stuff...
To us, life's details matter.  We care about whether you think the invite looks better with square or rounded corners.  We care to know if glitter suits YOUR style (hey, not all girls are glitter girls!) and don't go shaking it around unless you tell us too!  They may all seem like "little" things, but, to us, all of these little details do matter to the overall look.  It is OUR goal for you to be 100% happy with our designs.

We Celebrate...
So what do you think?  The booth came together even better than I had planned in my mind!  I wish I could give you a few more detailed shots but the photographers has run across the pond and will not be getting our pictures any time soon.  These overall views of the booth will give you a nice flavour for what we displayed.  I am very pleased and think our hard work showed!

We work TOGETHER...
This year's booth showcased how well Jen's baking and my stationery designs come together to create one seamless vision for your next event.  And your next event does not have to be a wedding!  We love to create custom designs for anniversaries, birthdays, retirements and more!  Make an appointment with us and tell us your ideas.  We will make your vision come to LIFE!

Weddingstar Orders are always Welcome!

I also wanted to focus on my Weddingstar offerings.  This company is amazing and has thousands of products that would add to any party!  Check out those hot are balloons!  I am in love!  All of these items including:  favours, printed paper napkins, ring pillows, champagne flutes, etc. can all be ordered in and take approximately one week to come in (as long as they are not back ordered).  I offer 13% off ALL orders and no additional shipping!  Click the link above and see what could brighten up your next party.

Wedding Season, Mon....No Problem!

Happy 2013!  I know.  I know.  Already half of the first month of 2013 has passed and there has been no sign of me!  Trust me.....I have very good reasons why I have been absent on the blog scene.  I have been Christmas-ing, crafting, doing "While You Were Outs" and then vacationing in Jamaica!  Looking back, I am still not sure how I got it all done.  Today was my first day back to my "normal" life and I have to admit that things felt a little awkward at the start of the day.  Naturally, like riding a bike, it all came back to me.  Sigh.

Custom Invitations are Our Specialty
The reason for Jamaica was for our friend's wedding and I would love to share a few photos.  I have been dying to share this invitation with everyone!  Have a look that the 4"x9" pocket style invitation (pockets and paper by Envelopments).  I absolutely love how the invite turned out.  The cutest part, besides the adorable enclosure "tags" was a little wooden heart that sealed the pocket together.  I used the wooden veneers from Studio Calico.  I adore adding crafty little details to my invitations!  I think the little details are what makes a project come to life!  Check out the fun black twine on the tags!

Did you know The Paper Pickle is Chatham-Kent's exclusive Envelopments dealer?
Tip #341 - Never use glue dots to attach the circles to the enclosure tags and THEN punch the hole using a crop-a-dile!  I thought I was so smart using glue dots rather than messy glue.  I ended up jamming my crop-a-dile so bad!  Lesson learned!  Do not try this at home!!  Ha.

Time to Share....
Thank you for humouring me as I share....I have been known to share a little too much at times (actually you will  NOT be seeing those pics!  Ha!).  The only thing I will say is that I DID dance on the beach on a couple of occasions and I DID run on a slip and slide in the pool olympics!

This was our first time doing an all inclusive and it will certainly not be our last!  Here is the view from our room.  And yes, that really was coffee in my hubby's mug!

Andy and Carrie had quite the entourage.  34 in all!  Now THAT'S a lot of fun and laughs!
What a crew!  I am at the very back just to the left of the arbor.
Back to Reality
So it is back to the grind after a very nice time off.  I am energized and ready to have the most amazing year!  I am gearing up for the Chatham-Kent Wedding Show on Saturday, January 26th from 11-6pm at the Bradley Convention Centre.  Come and see me if you are interested in talking stationery!  I would love to help you design your invitations or those of a friend!  If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for paper and would love to assist in anyway I can.

CHA
On another note....Did you see that CHA is happening right now in California?  For those of you who have not been following along with your favourite company's releases via blog, have a look at The Scrap Reviews previews!  They provide the most comprehensive listing of new products!  And yes, I am in love AGAIN!  We will chat more this week about your favourites....I would love to hear about your favs!  All I have to say is that I am reconsidering my decision.  I think stamps MUST make a comeback at The Pickle after seeing Tim's latest release with Stamper's Anonymous!!!!

Time for a Change - MOVING SALE starts TOMORROW!

September has always been a month of change and new beginnings. It is the time kids head back to school and begin a new grade or start at a new school. Some years the change can be huge. I still remember my feeling of excitement and anxiety each year, especially in years of transition like when I started at CKSS and at UWO. I remember not wanting things to change but once I got into the routine of that next chapter, I remember thinking that all was right...this was the way life was suppose to be.

September is also the month when we welcome autumn...a season which I adore. It is a time of transformation and preparation. Beautiful colours transform the landscape into an artist's dream. This gorgeous colour explosion is necessary to prepare for the next season of change. Life is ALL about change I suppose....

Decorative Papers - A Constant at The Pickle
With great thought and careful planning, I have decided to make some changes at The Paper Pickle Company. I will continue to bring you the latest in designer papers from companies like Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye (MME), Bazzill, Envelopments, Studio Calico, Jillibean Soup, Crate Paper, Heidi Swapp and more. These papers will be available in 12x12 and 6x6. Many of these brands are found no where else in Chatham, and I will be pleased to keep these fresh and available to you! I am open to suggestions so please help me with decisions....I welcome them!

Competitive Pricing will always be a MUST
It will also be of great importance to bring you these products at THE best possible prices. This has always been one of our focuses. I was price comparing yesterday, and found that the local big box was selling the exact same 12x12 glitter MME papers for $3.49 while we have them marked that $0.99 (the msrp)...I have to admit, I nearly passed out in the aisle! Even with the infamous 40% off coupon, you would be paying twice my price!  Amazing pricing at The Pickle will be a constant.

Unique Products - No Doubt
The Pickle will also continue to sell Big Shots, embossing folders and cutting dies. I would like to keep these unique and carry only brands not found in C-K.  One brand which we just started carrying a month ago is Memory Box. By the response we have seen, you LIKE this brand.  Many more designs should be seen later this week!  AND we will also be introducing new brands in the very near future!

Spellbinders have always been a staple at The Pickle and I know they are found at the big box. These I will keep but continue to offer them at the suggested retail rather than marking them up 40%, as seen down the road.

Some things you cannot live without!
Staples such as glue, tape, glitter, envelopes and ribbon will always be available!

Invitations - a passion of mine
I will also be increasing my focus on invitations. This is already a big part of the business but I would like to spend more time designing unique invites not seen anywhere else. Invitations are available for all occasions including showers, weddings, birthdays, baptisms, and anniversaries!  I would love to help you with your next big event!

Sorry to say, but Stamps have to go...
This saddens me, but we will no longer be able to carry rubber stamps given the size of the new store. We began as a rubber stamp and card making store back in 2003....I still remember how excited Kell and I were when we received our first official stamp order from River City Rubber Works!! But as I mentioned earlier, change is necessary....I hope you understand.

Great news for YOU!
You will be excited to know that all rubber stamps and inks will be 50% off starting Tuesday, September 4! No exceptions!!  Shop early for best selection!

New Location
You're probably wondering where The Paper Pickle Company will be moving… and I have found the perfect location! It has the same signature, rustic brick wall and cozy feel. The most amazing part is that I get to keep the same address!! That's right, we are shacking up with Dekoko's Espresso and Dessert CafĂ©. She has the most amazing 400 ft. area in the back, just perfect for The Paper Pickle! The move will take place at the end of September and I hope to have the NEW Pickle up and running in its quaint new location early October.

The New Plan - Store Hours
The new store will be open Saturdays and by appointment. You are probably wondering what I will be doing through the week. Well, I have decided to take a position with a very charming, up and coming lawyer in town. Don't worry. My husband will not mind these comments as the up and coming lawyer is none other than my hubby.....at Trevor Hinnegan Law! We will be the new dynamic duo in town eager to help you with any legal matter including real estate, wills , etc. Sorry for the shameless plug!

So there you have it.....I hope you will welcome and accept my decision and I hope to see you over the next month for some amazing deals!  Also, I sure hope you will visit me in my new location in the upcoming months!  The store will be smaller, but it can still be your "happy place"!

Simple JOY....Introducing Memory Box Dies & More

Here is a question for you...are you getting more sentimental and appreciative the older you get?  I think I am.  Today I found a sense of calm and happiness in the simplest thing.  These cone flowers from my garden.  I have been meaning to pick some for the last week or more.  So today, even though I was running late and even though it raining, I did it.  I cut some!

I continued to the store in my usual whirlwind manner and arrived at 9:58am.  Yikes!  (I am definitely in summer mode right now!)  I proceeded to my latest yard sale find (crown mason jars!) and filled it with water and the flowers.  And abracadabra.....time stood still.  Just like that.  Pure joy.  That's all it took.

I just had to share.  Make sure you find moments like this to slow you down...

Memory Box Dies
So on to business.....Have you heard of memory box dies? They are the latest rage in card making and paper crafting! They are made and very high-quality metal, very similar quality to that of Spellbinder dies. And the designs are just gorgeous! Very intricate.  Have a look at some of the styles we now have in store....

Don't see the one you want in store?  Just ask and I will order it in for you!

Envelopments Cardstock

Here is another moment of pure joy for me.  My Envelopments order arrived.  I was thrilled because I am quite anxious to work on invites for a friend's destination wedding and the pockets I needed were in this order...yay!  I can begin production!  I was also overjoyed to see how beautiful breathtaking some of the new patterned papers were in person.  Have a look up close for yourself.....

Repousse Collection - Imagine using these on a thank you card?
Inkadinkado - Clear Mini Stamps

And more joy?  Yesiree.  Check these out.  Fun.  Clear stamps.  $2.50 each.  You asked for more masculine stamps....you got them.  They are too fun to pass up.

So what do you think?  Are you feeling the love?

Invitation Nook - NEW Display

Tuesday was a busy day. Do you ever start one job and it leads to 50 more? It was a productive day though.  Have a look at what I accomplished!

The Invitation Nook
I have been trying to design a cute little area to display our invitations and make it easy for you to be inspired to create something truly unique for your special event.

Make yourself at home and flip through the pages of our album which sits nicely on the pickle barrel table!  You can customize any of these invitations to suit your style and colour scheme.

Invitations can be designed to stay within your budget.  Assemble yourself is a great way to save money and have a little fun!

Samples Galore
Here is a closer look at some of the stationery we have designed for various occasions.

New Envelope & Pocket Display

So this is what kept me busy ALL day yesterday!  This is just some of the beautiful product you can find at The Paper Pickle!  We have envelopes in various sizes, colours and finishes (matte, shimmer, etc.).  I think my new display shows a nice selection of pockets and envelopes from our various suppliers.

Envelopments Love
Our main supplier is Envelopments.  Here is a look at just SOME of their gorgeous pattern cardstocks available in any size and shape of enclosure they offer!  You may have seen some of these in the racks at the back of the store.  Hey....Imagine these papers on a hand stamped card for a good friend?!?

Are you inspired yet?  What party are you going to throw now that you know we can help you with the invites?!?
