Moving SALE - 5 Days Left to SAVE

I am continually amazed at how quickly time passes.  Anyone that has ever had a conversation with me, will know that this is something I talk about all the time.  I will say things like, "I can't believe it is time to pick up the kids already" or "I can't believe it is Friday, AGAIN!".  Honestly, it really DOES surprise me....like EVERY TIME!  And here I go (again)....I can't believe how quickly this month has passed!  I can't believe I am writing about the last week of my MOVING SALE!  What the?!?  Will my life continue to travel at warp speed??

Time to Scrap during a MOVING Sale?

So September.  Back to school.  I am really enjoying the back to school routine that I am falling into.  The only thing I am not too sure about has been the homework.  I mean the number of forms....the reading assignments, and just remember, my daughter is in Grade 1!  Yes, I know.  It is just beginning....

The one assignment I was QUITE excited about was the "design a scrapbook page" given by the incredible  teachers at Montessori the Place to Grow.  Our children have each been attending the school since the age of 16 months and we absolutely love the place!

Scrapbooking CAN be easy!
I honestly whipped the page up from start to finish (including clean up) in two hours.  What made the page so easy, was working with a fun, decorative My Mind's Eye 12x12 page.  Many of the elements of the page were pre-printed right on the 12x12 paper (ie. the white border, the butterflies along the side, etc.)  This makes designing SO easy.  Also, the assignment was quite open and so I was able to design using MY very comfortable, distressed style of scrapping.  I wanted the page to reflect what a 3-year old boy is all about....having fun, being playful, always full of energy and not afraid to get dirty!  That's my kid!

It's all in the Details!
Next, all I had to do was add a few extra pieces of paper, some embellishments (to give dimension) and voila!

A couple of embellishments to take note of:

Check out the mica I used to stamp the sentiment on.  It is a product of nature and is fairly clear with a hint of sepia tones.  It is great for layering over aspects of your project and adding to the project rather than hiding it. You can stamp on it (like I did) but you have to use StazOn ink in order for it to set.

Secondly, check out those adorable little MME sewn flags....I have to say, I AM IN LOVE!  They are so fun and easy on a project.....the biggest and best thing....NO sewing required. I know I have told many of you that I should have listened to my mother in high school and took sewing instead of cooking!  Sewing a button is challenging for me.  Truly, I am in awe of any of you out there that can sew!

As a side....Did you know I still have mica & the MME sewn flags are in the store and are 25% OFF!  Oh.  And those fun sticker letters that I used to spell the boy's name are 50% off!  A sale you ask....What sale?  Well, I am moving in case you haven't heard!  Like in 9 days!!!!  What?!?  (Better read my post from September 3rd if you are just tuning in now!)

See, even a crazy busy, entrepreneurial mom who is moving her store in 9 days (yikes!) has time to scrap!  YOU can find time too!  Quit surfing Pinterest and get creating all those beautiful projects that you are only just swooning over at this point.  Just sayin'......Kim

Basic Grey & The Pickle: A LOVE Story

The Memories - Love (Shin Splints and All)
The Pickle has had a bit of a crush on Basic Grey since the beginning of time.  This is a company that will always make me smile when I think of Kell and me literally running to their booth on Day 1 of CHA 2005 to see their latest release!  Like really?!?!  Yes....really!  Here we were, running through the Rosemont Convention Centre in our wedge heels to be the first to view and order from this amazing company.  No other company has had this kind of effect on The Pickle girls!

We Were on a Break
I am ready to admit that The Pickle and BG took a little break during the first part of the year.  (Did you notice?  Thanks for not bringing it up in person!)  I still don't remember why it happened....maybe it was an issue over design or colour.  Something just did not feel right and thus the eminent "break".  It doesn't matter now because......

The Pickle + Basic Grey sittin' in a tree....
We are hot and heavy once more....ahhhh.  (You knew it was going to happen!)  How can you not smile when you look at these two new lines?!?

Introducing Soleil & Aspen Frost:  The perfect Oxymoron Release......enjoy!

These paper are double sided and come in 12x12.  These images show both the
front, back and a close-up of the pattern.

Pins & Flags:  These are new addition.  SO fun on a project!
These little flags are just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Add them to a paper project or cupcake to brighten someone's day.

Here is a sample layout using the Soleil products from the BG website.
See those amazing sewn pennants?
I brought them in!  They are gorgeous.

Here is one last look at the Soleil Collection.  I brought in the 6x6 pads too!
This is such a fun line!
Just found out it was designed by BG & Sassafras Lass...no wonder I love it!

This might have to be my favourite paper.....
the one side looks JUST like birch bark.

Ok....who's ready to make some Christmas cards?!?
The full line is available in 12x12 sheets.
I have also brought in the 6x6 pads.

Aspen Frost Garland.....double sided with no sewing required!
The perfect embellishment.

So now you know the whole story.....are you happy for us? The Pickle & Basic Grey....here to bring a little love and smiles into your life now and always.....

Time for a Change - MOVING SALE starts TOMORROW!

September has always been a month of change and new beginnings. It is the time kids head back to school and begin a new grade or start at a new school. Some years the change can be huge. I still remember my feeling of excitement and anxiety each year, especially in years of transition like when I started at CKSS and at UWO. I remember not wanting things to change but once I got into the routine of that next chapter, I remember thinking that all was right...this was the way life was suppose to be.

September is also the month when we welcome autumn...a season which I adore. It is a time of transformation and preparation. Beautiful colours transform the landscape into an artist's dream. This gorgeous colour explosion is necessary to prepare for the next season of change. Life is ALL about change I suppose....

Decorative Papers - A Constant at The Pickle
With great thought and careful planning, I have decided to make some changes at The Paper Pickle Company. I will continue to bring you the latest in designer papers from companies like Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye (MME), Bazzill, Envelopments, Studio Calico, Jillibean Soup, Crate Paper, Heidi Swapp and more. These papers will be available in 12x12 and 6x6. Many of these brands are found no where else in Chatham, and I will be pleased to keep these fresh and available to you! I am open to suggestions so please help me with decisions....I welcome them!

Competitive Pricing will always be a MUST
It will also be of great importance to bring you these products at THE best possible prices. This has always been one of our focuses. I was price comparing yesterday, and found that the local big box was selling the exact same 12x12 glitter MME papers for $3.49 while we have them marked that $0.99 (the msrp)...I have to admit, I nearly passed out in the aisle! Even with the infamous 40% off coupon, you would be paying twice my price!  Amazing pricing at The Pickle will be a constant.

Unique Products - No Doubt
The Pickle will also continue to sell Big Shots, embossing folders and cutting dies. I would like to keep these unique and carry only brands not found in C-K.  One brand which we just started carrying a month ago is Memory Box. By the response we have seen, you LIKE this brand.  Many more designs should be seen later this week!  AND we will also be introducing new brands in the very near future!

Spellbinders have always been a staple at The Pickle and I know they are found at the big box. These I will keep but continue to offer them at the suggested retail rather than marking them up 40%, as seen down the road.

Some things you cannot live without!
Staples such as glue, tape, glitter, envelopes and ribbon will always be available!

Invitations - a passion of mine
I will also be increasing my focus on invitations. This is already a big part of the business but I would like to spend more time designing unique invites not seen anywhere else. Invitations are available for all occasions including showers, weddings, birthdays, baptisms, and anniversaries!  I would love to help you with your next big event!

Sorry to say, but Stamps have to go...
This saddens me, but we will no longer be able to carry rubber stamps given the size of the new store. We began as a rubber stamp and card making store back in 2003....I still remember how excited Kell and I were when we received our first official stamp order from River City Rubber Works!! But as I mentioned earlier, change is necessary....I hope you understand.

Great news for YOU!
You will be excited to know that all rubber stamps and inks will be 50% off starting Tuesday, September 4! No exceptions!!  Shop early for best selection!

New Location
You're probably wondering where The Paper Pickle Company will be moving… and I have found the perfect location! It has the same signature, rustic brick wall and cozy feel. The most amazing part is that I get to keep the same address!! That's right, we are shacking up with Dekoko's Espresso and Dessert CafĂ©. She has the most amazing 400 ft. area in the back, just perfect for The Paper Pickle! The move will take place at the end of September and I hope to have the NEW Pickle up and running in its quaint new location early October.

The New Plan - Store Hours
The new store will be open Saturdays and by appointment. You are probably wondering what I will be doing through the week. Well, I have decided to take a position with a very charming, up and coming lawyer in town. Don't worry. My husband will not mind these comments as the up and coming lawyer is none other than my hubby.....at Trevor Hinnegan Law! We will be the new dynamic duo in town eager to help you with any legal matter including real estate, wills , etc. Sorry for the shameless plug!

So there you have it.....I hope you will welcome and accept my decision and I hope to see you over the next month for some amazing deals!  Also, I sure hope you will visit me in my new location in the upcoming months!  The store will be smaller, but it can still be your "happy place"!
